Referring to the securities which we have deposited in your hands as trustees for the Hong Kong Government, we beg your permission to withdraw the Indian Government 3% Promissory Notes of 1854-5 for Rs 18,75,000 and to deposit in lieu thereof bonds of the Chinese Imperial Government 5% Gold Loan of 1896 for £133,400 at 90% = £120,060.

We shall be glad to have your sanction to this exchange of securities and by your sending us an order addressed to the
